This is a great bass for beginners! Change the electronics and the pickups and you will have a Good bass guitar for gigs!
Model Year: 1994
Price: $168.00 Costa Rica (new)
Where Obtained: Yamahas Dealer
Features:
The bass was made in Taiwan. Its a 4 strings passive circuit bass. Light body, three pickups (2 single coil P-style, 1 single coil J-style). It has three basic controls: Volume, Pickups selector and tuner.
Playability:
I love the neck of this bass. It is "soft" and thin. Its ideal for beginners players. This is not a Ken Smith or MusicMan, but for start to learn (andlow cost); its the perfect bass for you!
Sound Quality:
I have used a Zoom 3000B multieffect with this bass. The defretted effect combines good with this babe! Marcos Ortiz (Chiqui), a recognized bass player in my country (Costa Ricas Big Band, Alabastro (jazz band) and Costa Ricas Symphony Orchestra), says that this bass sounds like a active one! (He has a warwick corvette standard). With a Combo Hartke amplifier and the zoom multi-effect; this bass is a good one on stage!! I dont recommend this bass for the studio! (cause the electronics, it has ground problems) In resume, it has a low output!!
Durability:
You have to be careful with the quality of the pegs, and the knobs (plastic ones)(i got a lot of troubles with these stuff!!)

Well, this was the first bass I got, and I think it is a very good bass to start with, you don't find very many basses this good for the price. I haven't had any problems and everything works the same as it did the day I got it. If this bass were stolen I would buy it again, if I still didn't have the money to make a step up, if I would change anything, I would have an ebony fretboard. That's it. If you are a beginner, and you are left handed this is the bass for you.
