This video showcases a very talented and intelligent bass player and soloist. Michael Manring explains some of his techniques on his custom bass and offers some extreme ways of playing the bass. Techniques included are fretless slapping, alternative tunings, and use of the Ebow. Good picture quality, excellent showmanship. HOWEVER: this is not a good instructional vid for beginners. He is showing how to play his solo work. Also, his custom bass is different from other basses. The bass has 4 Hipshot tuners, extended range(longer neck), and a downtunable bridge.
