This song has a "punk-pop" high energy feel to it with a "machine gun disco" drum beat and an intense rhythm guitar line. Since the rest of the band were playing busy lines, I thought I'd hold it back a bit with a latin type groove. I play variations of the root, fifth, minor seventh and the octave throughout the entire track. See my lesson in Active Bass called "Latin Grooves". Shadows is the first track. http://www.activebass.com/cgi-bin/page_view.pl?l=13165 I recorded this song using an old Vantage P bass and a cheap Yorkville combo 2x10 amp. I play with more "expensive" equipment now (an Ibanez guitar and David Eden gear) but the recording turned out sounding pretty good. The Vantage P bass has a "growl" that no other bass that I have played since can match.
