Using standard tuning for a 5-string bass with the low B string, this song is in D minor. I'm currently working on both various walking techniques and soloing (on both of which I need pretty serious work) and came across this interesting melody in my head. The bass solo was pretty basic, relying on two-part harmonies to create the few bursts of any flash. Other than that, just tried not to be offensive. The most difficult line to get right was the little transitional run between sections – you'll hear it three times including the very end. The middle section (after the bass solo – huge transition) was an experiment in weird timings that, although simple in conception, was a challenge to get right on the bass. The piano solo part (other than the middle section) is a very free-style jazz piano style that uses a simple melody to provide a fragile structure. Comments & critiques welcome!
