The tune is in E minor and is in 4/4. What makes this tune unique is the syncopation. For example, the bridge section is on the 'a' before the down beat...so if the time is 1-e-n-a, 2-e-n-a, etc., the beats would all be played on the 16th before the downbeat, not as pickup notes, but as syncopated beats.
The song consists of a verse / chorus / verse / chorus / bridge / verse / outro chorus. A very simple layout.. We feel that we gave the tune a lot of breathing room as far as bass and drums go, but I guess I might be biased. The verse is the tension for this tune and the chorus is our hook. I really feel that our singer conveys a lot of emotion on this tune in particular. And lastly, we decided to end on the fourth pattern in the outro chorus progression in a manner that would kind of play a little motif of the tune itself - which is the verse.
