RIP Jon Lord

R.I.P the great Jon Lord who amounst his other solo works was the cornerstone and foundation of Deep Purple. His keyboard ability was just awe inspiring. I will crank up "Child in Time" as I toast this great man.

Deep Purple was a critical element in influencing me in how I started to play the bass. Roger Glover was a favorite of mine, still is. Jon lord was my least favorite member of the band, although I respected his talent and his very solid role in keeping Purple together. I will miss him for sure.

Deep Purple was a huge favorite band from the 70's. Them and Frank Zappa put out some of the best rock of all time. Listen to the bass line on Sweet Child In Time. Jon Lord was kinda like the keyboardist in Iron Butterfly, a strong classical background that translated well into rock. At one time DP was in the Guiness book of World Records as the LOUDEST band on nthe planet.
