strings for new fretless

First let me say "hola!" long time no post. And belated merry xmas and happy new year. Now on to my question...
Ok, I was given as a gift a nice Rogue 4 string Fretless by a good friend bass player of mine. It has an ebonite fretboard with some really awesome Mother of Pearl inlay work done to it by a luthier friend of ours. Anyway - nice guitar and read the reviews on it and people really seem to like em'. Soooo -- I know flatwounds should be used but want opinions as I do not want to dmg the fretboard but am itching to play this new addition to my stable. Btw my favs for playing are normally DR's "Black Beauties" if that helps any. Thanks for any and all replies to help a brother out....

On my fretlees Squier Vintage Mod Fretless Jazz with Ebonol fretboard I use a D'Addario light set nice mwah, good fundamental and overtones.
Flats sound choked and too much faux upright to me.

for what its worth the staple of my string diet are
rotos. ound swing 66...clear, bright, meaty and
everything in between. I have them on a fretless
bass too and they sound and feel great..after time i
suppose any roundwound is gonna chew up the neck a
bit. Dunno if elixir's would be worth looking at
with the nanoweb coating? Don't know if they;re
worth the price at all...but that's a different
topic all together!

If you can find them, Fender Tapewound strings sound incredibly on my Wishbass. Too bad I can't find them anywhere anymore.

Dr Sunbeams are geared toward fretless. I have them on my PBass and love the tone. Also Daddario Chromes. Don
