I have the opportunity to purchase a Carvin LB70. It is in excellent shape and in researching this bass I think it is a 1999 model.Their serial numbers are hard to figure out.Any input will be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
carvin makes fine stuff. the necks tend to be a little flatter front to back than similarly nut sized basses, like, say, a Fender Jazz. lots of folks think that's a great thing, others don't. as i recall, they tend to be set up for .100 - .040 instead of .045 - .105, so you might need to monkey around with the set up just a tad more if you're going to go with .105s. wish i had a bunny brunel 4 string!
Yo Jim,
Oh, yeah! You are looking at an Carvin LB70 Bass! Good eye! They are Sweet Basses, I have one myself! It is a Lined Fretless! You will not disappointed!

Hey thankyou for the info.I value everyones opinions and it is always good advise. This will be Santas gift to me this year.A new bass to the collection is always a good thing.
Thankyou,Jim
Happy Holidays everyone from Ohio.
I've heard they're pretty good basses, but that they have a tendency to sound a little on the bright side. This of course could be due to the fact that it's neck through, and it's being set up for the lighter gauged strings. On that note, I came very close to ordering a B40 recently...
I have a Carvin 5 string (bolt on neck) that I bought a few years ago - beautiful build quality, as previously mentioned neck radius tends to be a bit flatter (but very comfortable). I'd buy mine again....
