Headless nearly finished

It's been a while since I have posted folks, I have been lurking but not posting much. One of the reasons is this, nearly finished my headless bass. Wired and ready to play for a few songs at the next gig, then take it apart and spray it.

It plays really well and is so much more comfortable and lighter than my Mockingbird 5er.I haven't got a set of new strings yet and have to chrome the tuners and string retainer, but I will do that while I am spraying and polishing.

Gumby,

It looks truly lovely. I am curious about the pickup
configuration, though. I would have been at least
tempted to reverse them and use the single coil as
the bridge pickup. I am curious as to your reasoning
for the placement you used.

Thanks Kelly,

Pickup config was easy - the J p/up was free!!! It was a bit of an afterthought. I had ordered a 4 string J for a previous bass and the guy sent me a five. I was quite happy to send it back to him but he said to just keep it and he also sent me the 4 that I was after. I had the spare spot so I thought I may as well use it. I have a MM style in my fretless and that was where I planned to use it on this one as well, so as I mentioned it was a bit of an afterthought. The MM pup does tend to have a much bigger effect on the overall sound to my ear.

I have a couple of wiring issues to sort out then I can spray it (black of course) and start using it.

Been a looong time since I have posted, but as promised - here is the finished headless. I am now using at every gig, almost exclusively except for a few songs on the fretless.

Hey Gumby,

It looks amazing! Well done dude! I'd love to have the talent and time to dedicate myself to such a project.

What kind of pick ups are in her? Sorry if you have mentioned this already but I am doing catch up here!

Thanks Brad, there is also a Steinberger that has normal tuners on the body. I have just modified these ones to make it easier to tune. sounds great and is really comfortable to play.
