Auditioning For Marius De Vries
If you are not familiar with this music ccomposer, He writes music for movies, just like my instructor Ralph did. Some of Marius's credits is the music for the movie "Kick Ass" to name one. For the last month I have been writing a song for a music score and video. The details have not been released but will be for a world wide corporate video to be shown during the olympics. There is alot of talent competing for this gig from all types of musical backgrounds from many different countrys. This song is 109 measures long. lol. I wrote a bassline and also a sax line. Now adding Big Band Brass. Wish me luck I'm going to need it.

Thanks Gar I am going to need it. LOL! My only advantage is using what I learned studying under a old school Hollywood motion picture score writer. I already found more than a few mistakes in the audition material. Got my bassline and Saxline that I wrote. The deadline is sept 15th. I first heard of it Aug 15th. Not much time. We will see like I said there is talent from all over the world with types of music. Im going to use Jazz because of the improvisation opportunitys.

All the music that we hear in movies, commercials . . . somebody's gotta write it.
Might as well be you!
Good luck, sounds like a satisfying challenge.

Thanks Tracy,
You always inspired me. hope your doing well.
This gig is a long shot comparing to the musicians and writers who are auditioning. But hey its a good opportunity. The one thing I have going for me is my instructor used to write for the movies in hollywood. Now the trick is taking what I was taught and apply my artistic liberties to what im writing. Thanks for the support.

Thanks Ed,
All I can do is try my best with what I know. There are alot of other talented musicians I am competing with. I am almost done with my showcase. Its due next week. Not much time they gave us. I think its going to seperate the musicians who have the desire to get it done working under a short deadline.

Thanks Brad,
I think what Marius and EMI Entertainment are looking for is talent that can improvise on the spot and on short notice while being creative. Easier said than done. I have taken many jazz standards and rearranged them and added a creative touch and took mt time. I had less than a month and my deadline to hand in my showcase is 6 days. But this is different. They want a world audience who can identify. They are looking for any talent any instrument from around the world. There will be more than one person who gets the gig. I have been experimenting with Different instruments from around the world using the instruments in Finale. I have 109 measures done. Now its time to tweek it with different instruments. Thanks for the support. Ill need it lol! If I dont get it no big deal Ill just try harder next time.
Take care,
Dan
