I neglected to provide any details about this. It was a long install, but very pleasurable. The instructions were clear, and the technical detail really good. They are a nice business to work with. David Meadows advised against an active/passive switch for my needs, saving me money.
The preamp is a 3ZB, configured with 3 band preamp, with volume and balance controls for the two pickups. It has an impedance adjustable Z mode switch, which changes it from low to mid to high. The tone variations just with this are pretty cool. The pots I have never seen before, very small, and according to Audere, very high quality. It is extremely quiet, and a very clean sound. Having my Carvin amp set flat, the variations in tone are to me, remarkable.
They also make a Jazz Bass preamp pre-wired that goes into the cavity, switches right out with the old one, having the chrome plate with it as well. This too has the Z mode switch.
Anyway, I do not mean to sell this to anyone, but I am real ecstatic with the results! Thanks for reading this.
