Bassist on a bike

Dear ActiveBassists,

I'm moving to Amsterdam in two weeks for studying bass guitar and I'm going to face a huge problem: I must learn how to carry a bass guitar riding a bike!
What kind of case or bag do you recommend? I really don't want to fall of and break my precious instrument (neither myself, ha-ha), but some others told me it is POSSIBLE to ride a bike with your bass on your back.
Thank you!

Rita

There are many gig bags that can be worn like a back pack and that would be my suggestion. as far as your fears of falling goes it helps to practice riding with a loaded backpack as heavy or heavier than your bass to get used to the weight.
