I wear hearing aids.

Hearing loss does not affect your ability to pick
pitch.

I can still hear during a song if the guitarist's
B string is slightly out of tune or one of the BVs
is not right.

After pointing this out at the odd time, no-one in
our group gives me stick about heaving to wear a
hearing aid

At practice and in gigs, I ALWAYS use specially
molded musicians' ear plugs.

Beware that a new hearing aid is a double edged
sword and many people get frustrated getting accustomed to them. They are also expensive -
mine are $9,000 worth. Getting caught with hem on
in a sudden shower of rain sends them back to the
shop for expensive repairs. Thoroughly research
this before investing Mike.

Indeed I will, thanks! I have not heard anywhere where they make a rainproof variety. I'm looking at between $799 to $2000 dollars. I suppose that you get what you pay for.

My high school band teacher had a hearing aid, and
he could trumpet better than a lot I've seen. The
trombonist next to me in band has an ear problem,
and he can outplay me any day. And...Beethoven did
his thang with two bad ears! What I'm getting at is
that many have done it before, and any good
musician will know that there's a lot more to this
wonderful thing we love than having extraordinary
hearing!
