Line 6 Lowdown HD750 VS Carvin B1500

My Trace Elliot head has developed a short and I need a quick backup until I can fix the Trace. I'm down to choosing between a new Line 6 Lowdown HD750 for $499 USD or a used Carvin B1500 for $450 USD. I really like both but don't know which way to go. The Line 6 is a bit more enticing because of the fact that it does have a warranty. What are your thoughts?

I can't imagine why Carvin discontinued the B1500 - built like a tank.

I'm not familiar with the quality of Line 6 stuff (other than their low end effect pedals which are underwhelming) Carvin, on the other hand, makes gear that's built to last.

Maybe a brand new BX1500 for $549?? http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=BX1500

Yes, I'm an unabashed Carvin fan.

+1! with a bullet on the Carvin BX1500.

I own the BR10N Combo which has essentially a
single-ended version of this amp. I absolutely
love it, and I have gotten rave reviews on my tone
with it from players whose opinion I trust.

Not my first Carvin amp, either - I've been a True
Believer since the mid 70s.

Line 6 amps I've tried left a lot to be desired,
if you ask me. Bottom line:

Carvin=Hefty, hefty, hefty
Line 6=Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy

I went with non of the above, I found a guys that had an original run SWR SM-400 with the cream silk screening that was totally clean inside and out and a Goliath III cab all for $450 USD. Major score!

I'm gonna have to agree with the previous couple posts...between the 2, choose the carvin.

The line 6's sound nice, but the pots (for the effects in particular) tend to wear out fairly quickly.

For a head in that price range, I would look at GK, Hartke, Peavey, Traynor, and Carvin....not necessarily in that order.

WOW is right. Whenever I used to do that the amp died...every time lol! Then I did that to my ex one time, but when I remembered that she didn't work BEFORE, I was not surprised she didn't work after...
