The Bass Company

I just bought a new bass. Literally like 20 minutes ago. Its made by The Bass Company, its their new model with the humbucking musicman pickup. Anyone had any experience with this bass or this company? I am super interested in what quality of bass i'm getting.

Wow, I really wish I had gotten the cherry stain, that is beautiful. I love the look of the bass, very unique. I can't say I've seen a model like that before. I believe I'll be enjoying this bass once it comes in, I guess the inner portion of my bass is a deep dark blue. I can't wait!

Thier basses are rapidly gaining in the market. They are made in the orient somewhere, and are set up by techs at their homebase in the States. They have new fretless models as well :)
The last time I checked there website was temporarily down. Very nice lloking basses as well.

Hey Doug, I talked to Darnell at TBC today. Their website is up again. They are working on their custom shop and will be offering all kinds of custom options. They have gigbags now and will be selling a polish soon made especially for their rubbed finish.

I'd like to buy a lined fretless that looks exactly like my fretted TBC. That way it would be exactly the same scale and my muscle memory would be right on with a fret less model.

I like these guys at TBC on a personal level. I hope they are successful.

By the way, the bodies and necks are built in China at a shop that TBC owns, and the hardware installation and setup is done on west coast.

If I were to do anything different, I would consider the TBC with the 2 humbuckers instead of the single pup mine has.

A fretless to match the one you have is a very good idea. Didn't you buy the new model with the sound chamber and big humbucker?

Yes, the TBC basses are chambered "swamp ash." It has one big humbucker. I had to change my style a bit because I didn't like using the pup as a thumb-rest on this bass. So now I rest my thumb on the E string except when I'm playing it. Works well, plus I can now position my hand wherever I want it.

My wishbass is fretless and is a much larger scale then the TBC; plus it doesn't have lines on the board. I like the wish a lot, but I think if I had a fretless TBC exactly like the one I have now with lines I would feel more comfortable.

Sam Ash sells a fretless made by "Tone" that has a lined board and every time I go there an play it I feel much more in control of my intonation.

Yeah, the best part was I only paid $339 for it. And it has the better neck they make, that goes on their j/j config bass. Limited amount of those basses.
