LOL - That one looks like a KEEPER!!

Mandolin is a great instrument!! Somehow I ended up with 2 of them. Since they are small, they are fun to take when you travel, or to a jam session. The bluegrass jam I attend always gets 6 guitars, but usually only one or two mandolins.


I guess one of the most famous persons to play both is Chris Hillman - he played both for the Byrds, and with Stills in the band Manassas.

& let's not forget the Flying Burrito Brothers!

The Byrds recorded " Jesus is Just Alright" before the Doobies had a hit with it ... but I think another band did it before the Byrds did.

LOL! I hear ya'! I have found myself studying
root/americana music as well. We did a lot of that
in my last band. Its fun and there is something
about doing americana that touches my inner being.

Hey Ivan, I suspect it's a middle aged thing exploring your cultural heritage and legacy.

What's really interesting/enjoyable is exploring the rich tapestry of cultures that have influenced the development of so-called modern music.

Are you sure your fingers will fit? I have a Uke but my hands are too durn big.

I've noodled around on a couple of borrowed mandos - there's definitely a learning curve & I reaaly need to pay attention to finger placement.

The Loar models have more of a profiled neck which I hope will fit my paws better.
