Pickup replacement

hi all
i've been discussing with my bass player about replacing my pickups in my fender (i have a P/J combo) since there is an earth problem inside one of my P pickups

i just wondered about any advice of to which pickups i should buy?
for the P i'm looking for a warm, vintage kind of tone, similar to that of an old 60s P bass
and for the J i'm after a bright, modern kind of tone, mainly used for fusion

any brands, examples or tips would be helpful

thanks

Tony

on my Jazz bass I use Seymour Duncan Basslines Quarterpounders. These are passive pickups that have a lot more poop and bottom end than the stock pups.

On the bass I am building I am using Lace Alumitone Bassbar 3.5's. They are supposed to be great replacements for P-Bass pups, but since I have never heard them before, I can't say much about them. Kinda sticking my neck out on that one...gots my fingers and toes cross haha.

Since your P pup is acting up, start with a Model P
- I put one on my old '62 Precision years ago and it
really made a difference.
