Rush song...

Hey, weird post, but seemed the best place to ask..

I've had a Rush song stuck in my head all morning, and I have NO idea which song it is, I've been trying to find it online, with no luck, so I thought I'd try to describe it here and see if someone recognises it..

I don't think it's an instrumental, it's just one of their songs that starts with a pretty long instrumental intro. I think it's in D, 4/4. It picks up with a one bar HEAVY riff intro, followed by two bars of the root, with an almost punk bass 8th picking line, then two bars with a b7 (C?) hit on "1", and just drums keeping time for the rest.. then those four bars repeat. Then, it keeps going steady on the root, with a guitar melody, with occasional sick bass & drum fills.. I'm not entirely sure what comes after that.

I THINK (but I may be thinking of another Rush song entirely here) that the next part slows down to 1/2 time, but with an interesting meter.. alternating 11/8 & 12/8. Assuming the key is in fact D, I think it goes (per bar) - D, down to Ab, up to F, down to Db.. then it repeats.. I think.

lol I know this is crazy, but I figured it was worth a shot at least! Better than it driving me crazy ALL DAY until I get home and can tear through my Rush albums!

BTW, I don't know if you've got your own collection of Rush you can dig through, but I've found that a great site to go hear a bunch of tunes is grooveshark.com. And it just so happens that they've got a bunch of Rush stuff on there including all the instrumentals mentioned in the Wikipedia article.

Never mind. I just saw the end of your original post where you said you've got a bunch of Rush albums. Anyway, grooveshark.com is still a great site to hunt for tunes.

Actually, I discovered I was half-right.. the majority of it WAS from Cygnus X-1. But, as far as I can tell, the "intro" I described, doesn't exist. Can't find any Rush songs that start like that. Apparently, I made it up. Oh well.
