I've gotten roped into helping a buddy run the Flaxwood Guitars booth at the Dallas Guitar Show next week. Flaxwood makes some great electric guitars but, so far, no basses. I help them out periodically and may have the tiniest opportunity to influence their design should they start making basses. OK, probably no chance - but if I do, I want to be able to say something helpful. I'm betting it'll be a fiver no matter what I say. They won't be cheap (not Fodera expensive - but I'm thinking probably in the $2500.00 range - made in Finland) So.....here's your chance - what would you look for on a new 5'er. Here are a couple of specific questions:

Nut width of 1.75 (think MM 5) 1.81 (think Lakland 5) or 1.86 (think Fender 5)

String width at bridge (Wide like a Fender 5 or Narrow like a SoundGear 5 or medium like a MM)?

Pickup configuration? Jazz? Soapbars? J/MM combo? P? PJ?

Wood choice isn't an option because of the way they're made.

I appreciate your input.

I don't seem to mind (or even notice much) nut width variations but I'm VERY susceptible to bridge width variations. Liking Lakland's width though; a LOT. An adjustable bridge might be a good idea, as well as a handy marketting tool.

Electronics? Switchable active/passive/passive with tone control.

Pickups? Neck & bridge humbuckers switchable to single coil.

Other ideas? Have an OMFG mode like earlier (?) G&Ls. Memory fails me but some Gibsons have a neat variable tone control on them.
