Anyone use a Pignose B100V???

Hello Activebass.
I'm just curious if any of you fellow bass players have any experience with these amps as they have just caught my eye and I'm pretty intrigued by them.
Thanks.
Sean

not that particular one; however i have played a G40V guitar amp, and it's outstanding for it's size & weight. i'd expect their bass model to be of comparable worth.

Just located one last week at GC Las Vegas. Very rare little tube amp. On the way now, should arrive on Friday. I'm really intrigued by this rig. I'll post after running it thru the sound tests.

Just got it ups 2 days ago & used this little Pignose in a duo gig last night. It was a little strange at first- it's been 40 years since I've used an all tube amp. Took first set tweaking to get it set up right. After that it sounded great. It has that warm tube sound on all notes, without sounding muddy. Especially nice on the higher notes, they just sounded warm & round. Very similar to a mid sixties Fender black face bassman amp. I am going to run it thru my 2 12" cab, which should put me right there in the Bassman tube sound range. I got this for a ridiculous low price, but these are extremely rare amps. Also made in head only version, I would like to get one of those babies also. If you see one, grab it. It is not going to be appropriate for a screaming loud rock band, but it will more than cover itself in a small gigging situation- and with MAGNIFICENT TUBE OLD SCHOOL TONE.

Nice score, & it sounds a delight. You lucky bugger ;)

Re "not going to be appropriate for a screaming loud rock band", I do understand but would it be loud enough to mic up then use the PA to lift the rest of the weight? I've never really done it on bass but there's something really nice about a smaller tube amp beating the snot out of itself.

It has effects send & return, I don't know that it would work as a di, but I would say, mic it & it would pump big time thru a pa. It definatley pumps enough big, phat power thru the 1 15" speaker to mic it. It also has 4 ohm & 8 ohm speaker outs on the back. This morning I ran it out to my 2 12" neo Avatar cab, & instant black face 60's Bassman amp sound, but louder. Ahhh.... :)

Nice!!

You could 'FX Send into a DI' but I'd mic it; get as much as possible of it's sound. Perhaps also a DI before the amp's input, in case some deep bottom needs dialing back in.

Cool. Thanks for the input. Good luck on finding one of these ! If you can find the head only, grab it.

Have you ever checked out a Squire Vintage vibe tele bass ? Been reading some really cool stuff about them. $299 new , less a case. Almost all reviews rave about the thick, phat, creamy bottom end of the humbucker at the base of the neck. Check it out.

Heard great things about Squier Vintage series stuff from some pretty critical & surprised people. However, I've got this 5 string addiction . . .

The only problem is that no one carries the Squier Vintage vibe tele bass with the humbucker in stock. You have to order it first. I just have a problem getting a bass uplayed & unheard. Bummer, because the reviews are awesome, and seem to be just the sound I'm looking for. Come on Fender, start shipping !!!

Road trip!!! ;)

Might be worthwhile posting a CraigsList ad asking if you can demo someone's bass locally. "Half-hour rental for a 6-pack" sort of thing. Even if you hate it you'll likely have a good time gabbing with the owner; bassists seem to play well together.

Got one on Friday, right up in Greenville. It is an amazing bass, especially for the $ ! Used it on gig last night thru the Pignose B100V. What an awesome match. The humbucker is way hot, a lot louder than my '68 P Bass. Big , phat, true tube bass sound. Excessivley "old school" !!!!! Love them both !!!!!
