I don't know if anyone here does that. What particular concerns do you have?

Our soundman just did a touring band for 20 nights
and they're bassist ran no amp...just DI
I think as long as you have ample monitor,I think it
would be ok.....but would DEFINITELY suck if you
couldn't hear yourself

I do it all the time with absolutely no loss of volume, control, or thump. I cheat just a little though; I use an MXR Bass + DI. That way I can set my tone, use distortion (not really, but it's there if I ever want it), and control my stage volume a little if needed.

Saves my back and I can carry my whole rig in my gig bag.

I do it quite often, many of our shows are just one set and I hate to wrestle all that stuff for only 35-45 minutes. I just take my Zoom B2.1u and a passive DI and rock that, I usually save some gain in case the sound person is stingy. I never have to ask for more bass, the other folks I play with need lots of bass!

I did it for years, literally. I won't pretend
that it sounded as good as a real bass rig on
stage. I ran my pedalboard DI to the board, and
ran the bass pretty loud for the FOH, and loud
enough through the monitors for everyone on stage
to hear.

It worked fine for me, but the other musicians
didn't like it all that much, and finally
complained enough that I started using an amp
again.

Thanks people I am already doing it just wanted to see how it is working for the rest who have switched. I run the DI bass driver set to "SVT my fav sound" to the board our sound system is Bose and I have 4 kick butt sub woofers I am using as bass monitors nothing like it! I the stopped use an amp on stage after a recent back injury "not band related".I wish I would have switch long ago would have saved a ton of $ Oh yeah as you can guess the sound man loves me lol
