Ideas, Input or suggestions on a painting question

I need some guidance from you guys.

I am building a Tele out of parts for a 50th birthday present for a good friend. I am using parts as I won't have time to do one from scratch.

Here is the deal - his daughter is quite an accopmlished artist (I think she is anyway) I want her to paint something representing her father on the body of the guitar and I intend to clear over the top of it and polish as I do all my other projects.

What sort of paint should I get her to use? I would hate for her to spend a lot of time on it only to have the colours run and ruin the work when I spray the clear.

Anybody have any thoughts, experience?? Thanks in advance

What is that product?

Is it, or will it be bare wood? (when she starts)

What type of wood?

It will be a raw finish before she starts. I will then spray it with Nitrocellulose clear.

I am sure she will have done airbrushing as part of her degree. I will ask if that is the type of style she is going for.

You should put a sealer/primer coat before painting and I would also suggest you do all the pilot holes and mark the location of hardware so as not to obscure any of the art work. The clear coat you use would be dictated by the art medium, sealers I have done in the past were always polyurethane.

Give her a scrap piece first to

Then you coat it with the product
you will use to see if it bleeds.
