- I find that the low B string notes sound best when they are kept slow. Fast playing on the B string tends to get muddy.
- A good use for the B string is double stops with A string notes. When you are normally holding a D on the A string, you can now double it up with a D on the B string.
- IMO, it does not sound very good playing a B string with a pick (and I normally like the pick sound).
- You can vary your technique to crispen up the sound on the B string. I try to pluck relatively high on the finger where it is hard, so that the string doesn't flop around widely. It also helps to pluck a little bit closer to the bridge.
