Stagecraft discussion

Hey any tips or questions about Stagecraft?

After catching a big compliment last gig from the venue's sound tech about how clean our stage floor was, it dawned on me that not everyone is at the same level on this. Nor is everyone at a good level.

our stage is as clean as a whistle. with guys running all over the place it has to be clean. as for stage volume we play loud but that's because of the show we do, we can get away with it. another thing is using tube amps, they sound more ear friendly at higher volumes than SS amp do.

Yep, it's hard to trip over a cable that has been routed around the satge's perimeter & taped down.

To my own view, stage volume isn't part of stagecraft. But a cheap pair of earplugs tossed into the bass case or gig bag can't hurt.

We try to keep our stage as clean/clutter free as
possible (not too hard to do as 3 piece). We have
played a few places though, that had wires all over
the floor because the sound techs did a lousy job of
running PA cables and such.

I don't know the situation that resulted in sound techs leaving cables like that, but would I be safe in presuming it was the sort of situation where they wouldn't pay to repair/replace anything that got broken as a result?

Yo Dave,

When me and my old four piece band gigged, we always tried our best to keep a tidy stage area and always asked for a chair for Baa Lamb our pet inflatable Sheep............
