I am a bit with Mo on this one. I have not often thought of a bass as having a gender until I finished my blonde fretless.

As it is a blonde bass and has nice curves I named it after my wife. Who is normally blonde (but does change hair colour from time to time) All my other basses are genderless!!

I named two of my basses (ol'Bob, and Marcus), but that was by
accident. The kids named Bob and the other is a Marcus Miller
Jazz, so Marcus fit. My third is an OLP, no name. I have never
thought as them as male or female. Just to clarify, my eldest owns
everything but ol'Bob.

To me, the bass is 'it' ;-)

I don't have a bass I call anything that starts w/he. I don't feel up any he or masculine axe, thats just me no-offense to whoever

Funny thing, I never realized - in German my basses are masculine.
Come to think of it: To me, basses seem masculine while guitars seem feminine. I can't tell you why though, just seems that way...

I do call all my basses she but i think thats just a figure of speech. However, my car is definatly named! meet Martha
