Okay, this is a silly thing to have happened. But,
just about anyone who has played for a long time
can relate a similar story. If they want to, that
is. :)

I, years ago, chose to eschew the use of
straplocks, for a similar, if less spectacular
reason. I now have a specific set of hardware that
I use on all my basses. It ensures that the strap
can pivot sideways, and also ensures that it can't
come off.

It involves large brass washers, nylon bushings,
and a big fricking screw to anchor the whole thing
to the bass. I can't detach the strap without a
screwdriver, but no way is it coming off if I
don't want it to.

I'm sorry this happened to this guy, and although
it is funny, we shouldn't make fun. I could happen
to any of us.

Yeah, I've often thought of using screw in hook-ring device and then attaching it with a carabiner. BUT then again, I'd never try that with my basses.....Hence, why I thought it was funny.

Good thing I've never tried that. I know it would happen to me. However, I did trip over my drummers ride cymbal tripod the other night. Almost fell into the whole kit.
