I have an original Gibson... a 72 EB0. I use DiAdario flats... used to used Roto tape-wounds. The new SG bass seems much lighter than the orignals... maybe a set of ground-wound since the SG, to me, isn't as muddy as the old Gibsons.

Dude, what do you want the bass to sound like? & then playing style, genres played, thumb/finger/pick/slap'n'pop.

From Tapes to Stainless Rounds, there is such a broad range of string sounds. & then there's the interaction between bass & strings. I'm not up on the SG's style of sound; anyone?
