Bass Guitar For Dummies and Bass Remedies

Hello all my bass-brothers and sisters!

Sorry about being absent for such long stretches of time, its
been a bit hectic around my place! A lot to report!

As some of you already know, Ive published a new book (my
third) this past Summer (Daily Grooves for Bass, published by
Carl Fischer) and Im just about to finish the last touches on Bass
Guitar For Dummies-2nd Edition, which came out amazing. I
think youll enjoy this one as well. Its due out February 2nd.

I thought that Id catch a breather in the new year, but Im
already starting work on yet another book (cant talk about the
details yet, but rest assured, Ill make sure youll dig this one as
well).

Since Im hitting the grindstone quite hard its been a challenge
to find the time to stay in touch with everyone. I do want to
thank you all for being such an amazing and supportive group,
you guys ROCK!

I have a big favor to ask of you

I have co-founded a company that offers online bass lessons
and in-person clinics with todays most influential bass-players.
Weve featured Will Lee, Bakithi Kumalo, Lincoln Goines, Chris
Tarry and moreand if you can make it to New York City, please
check one out!

Weve just gone public with the lesson site and I would love
some feedback from you guys. The web-address is BassRemedies.com
and it really features some great lessons, my word on it. and
it really features some great lessons, my word on it.
Would you please take a look and give me some feedback?
Please be kind, but honest, this is my lifes work! ;-)

All the lessons are 99cents, about 4 to 8 minutes long and deal
with specific aspects of playing (right hand, left hand, groove,
etc. you get the idea). If you just peek, tell me how you like the
layout, what youd like to see, what bothers you, all that stuff. If
you buy a lesson, please tell me about the buying experience,
how the lesson worked for you, how the PDFs came outall the
good stuffand if any questions come up, please e-mail me
directly (its BassPower at Earthlink dot net), mark it clearly, and
I will respond (in fact, we may talk on the phone if its alright
with you).

Im going to try to stay in touch here on AB as much as possible
before I go under again (writing a book really takes you out of
commissionbut its a great life, I play bass, I teach bass, I
write bass books.) Be well and all the very bass...and thank you
again for all your support!

Peace,
Patrick

looks great. there's enough in the 20 second video's to keep me going for awhile!!!LOL. the only thing that bothered me is there's no Home page heading, took me a second to figure out how to get back to the home page. no biggie but it may be something. i'll have a better look around a little later. so far so good.

The website loaded pretty quickly, I just would've
been sitting around awhile if I tried to watch a

might not hurt to make the price clearer. Sell sell

Cool! That's good to know. We've thinned out the density
(whatever that is in internet terms) to make it as fast as possible.
On a slow connection I found that you have to let the video run
once through (do something other than sitting in front of the
computer...very frustrating) and then watch the thing from the
beginning (just can't close out the page). I've pushed the price
issue, thanks for that. I'm getting great feedback from your
feedback! ;-)

Thanks so much!

Hey Adam,

By the way, I just checked out your home page. I know Roger
Waters. He's a super nice cat. I have a funny story about him. I
didn't recognize his name (too distracted from writing books I
guess) and when he came to the studio for a vocal session (with
Katie Agresta) I did a quick Google search on him...I just had a
feeling...alas, too late. He was in already and Katie didn't
recognize the name either. Then it hit us both...with a slap to
the forehead we exclaimed "THE WALL!"

Hey, Patrick,

Looks like a really good site. Two things I can
see that would improve it, a bit, though...

First off, although many more samples are
available through YouTube, a few more partial
example lessons might be a good idea on the actual
site, with links that, instead of taking people to
YouTube, would be rather "Buy this lesson right
now for only 99 cents," and would take people
right to the purchase page for the lesson they'd
been previewing.

Also, although your homepage states quite clearly
that the lessons are only 99 cents each, It might
be a good thing to reiterate that on the pages
where they are available for purchase. People
often miss things like this when they first come
to a site, and when they click through to the
lessons and see they are for sale, they are likely
to say something like "Yeah, sure, for what, ten
bucks each?" You have a very good price, and I
think you need to hit people in the face with it
every chance you get. So, either on the buttons
that say "Buy Now," or right next to them, say
"For ONLY 99 cents!"

People who wouldn't ever think about spending ten
bucks for a single lesson will often spend twice
that at a buck a throw, and be happy they did.

Otherwise, great site, my brother. :)

it never took me to you tube and once i was on the list of lessons it gave a small preview of each easily.

i do agree to make the ONLY 99 cents option more.

otherwise great site and i will come back when i have more time and likely grab a few of the lessons...

another thing i forgot....it was mentioned alternate payment options too.... paypal and/or an option to setup and account....then prepay to the account and download later.

also an option to purchase groups of lessons on dvd might be an idea to look into since there are still some folks who have dialup and downloading video is a long and slow process for them.

thing about payment options on the internet, but it seemed a
real valid point, and I loved your consideration of the slow
download, I should really have know about that. Thanks so
much! Fabulous! I'll be conferencing with the boys at 5pm

Damn, I'm glad I'm no longer on dial-up. I have
friends who still are, and to me that is really
weird, as it is not as if they can't afford a good
connection.

You know, the really strange thing to me is that
the Windows help files still assume
everyone is still on dial-up. If you go
into the internet troubleshooter, you get things
like "If your modem is dialing, you should be able
to hear it pick up the line, generate a dial tone,
and dial like a touch tone phone. If your modem
makes dialing noises but does not connect
correctly, your settings are probably incorrect.
If it is not dialing, it may not be installed
correctly...."

I mean, is that bizarre, or is it just me?

about the one on modes...or rhythm, something that everyone can

Patrick,

While I think that everyone should know the modes,
at least to be able to hear and use them, and, of
course, rhythm, I think that something that would
give a little more instant gratification might be
better, although I must admit I am at a loss as to
what that might be.

You don't want to put one out there that "everyone
knows," but on the other hand, I think you should
put one up that most people would benefit from
pretty quickly. Modes and rhythm are things that
take some work. You want to put something up that
tells people they can master most everything on
the site without dedicating weeks to each lesson,
but that also tells them that the lessons won't be
beneath them.

Maybe post three freebies, one each for beginner,
intermediate, and advanced players, and label them
as such?

Other than that, I fear I am pretty useless. :)
I'm not nearly as familiar with your content as
you are, of course.
