problem with jazz bass pickups

i got my new fender deluxe jazz bass a week ago but today i noticed that the some of magnets on the pickups are a sinificantly different length to the rest. i can't remember if they were like this when i bought them. are they suposed to be like this? i think my friend might have accedenatly pushed the pole pieces in when he was playin it the other day but i'm not sure. help.

My recollection isn't the freshest on this, but I recall a millimeter difference being common.

Until someone in the know chimes in, how bad is it? "Significantly different" = what measurement? Are the strings balanced for level & tonality up & down the fingerboard?

that should be normal. they are different lengths to even out the output of the individual strings.

Just checked my deluxe jazz. The poles are different heights. I have the older noiseless pups.
