Well I'm sure some of you saw the sweet Aria P bass I purchased last week. Well, I get home from work today and there is a little card on the table. I open it up and start reading, and you wouldn't believe what it said....
My girlfriend informed me that she sent out my Guitar Center credit card payment for $300 to cover the expense of the bass. How sweet is that!?!
She said that since my birthday is next month, she couldn't think of a better gift to get me.
Of course, she said I CAN'T sell it...AND...it's name has officially become "Sylvester" the bass.

Well, I'm not selling it, but She convinced me to paint it BLUE.
I worked on it in intervals today. Sanded her down...gave it 2 coats of primer, and 4 coats of Bahama Blue(car color which coincidentally resembles Placid Blue). I'm letting it dry over night, and will lightly sand it tomorrow, and proceed to give it about 4-5 coats of clear. I'm using automotive paint....the finish won't be store quality, but I like having it a solid color rather than sunburst. I'll likely let it sit for a couple of days after I add the clear. then use a fine polishing compound on it before putting the bridge, neck, pups, and strings on.
I had one mess up on the back lower horn, but I'm hoping that with a little wet sand, and the clear will keep it from showing too much. |
