Various Patterns for a Given Scale

Hello all,

I was flipping through the book "Serious Electric Bass" by Joel Di Bartolo and found one lesson that I find to be very useful. This is good for those who already have knowledge of the scales and modes but feel like they only have maybe one or two approaches to those scales. This lesson is the first step in breaking the typical three string root-octave pattern which beginners tend to have a habit of relying on.

I created a lesson about it. I forgot the number so I will post a reply with the lesson number.

I recommend that those who are knowledgeable on the scales and modes but only to a limited extent look at this. It is the first step to having the entire fretboard open to you so that you can become more comfortable with staying away from that root note.

And it's not bad to use that root note. Ofcourse not. But I noticed that intermediates and beginners tend to revolve around one set pattern for a certain chord or scale. Doing these excercises will open your eyes to more approaches of certain scales so that you can become more comfortable "out of position." enjoy!
