Spector Rebop 5

Hi guys, new to Active Bass. Thought you might like my opinion on Spector Rebop 5. Been playing about 2 years (after a 15 year absence. kids etc.) on a Starter kit from Ibanez. Ibanez Jump Start. Jamming and gigging with friends and have had a great time to date. Last year played a Spector ReBop 5 and fell "in love". Got it yesterday at a good price Aus$2000. Great feel, great tone. Very happy Spector bass user. Only downside is it is bit neck heavy. Anybody know how to deal with this?

Cheers from OZ
Pete.

Welcome Peter!

Neck Dive can be helped (some) by a strap with a slightly rough strap (suede should do it); the principle being that the mild resistance takes the "diving" force.

Take the Spector out on the town & try out a few straps.

Welcome to the board, Pete.

I've been wanting a Spector for a while now. I gotta admit, I'm a little jealous :)

I got mine for about $550. I have a 4 inch strap with lamb's wool padding, and I don't notice any type of neck dive at all. Great bass, just wish I had a mid EQ knob.

I have a ReBop 5 and I love it. I got a 3" wide strap to combat the neck dive. It didnt solve the problem totally but it did help. Welcome to the site by the way.

Thanks Guys for making me feel welcome. I found this article. Is it realistic? or should I just get a tailor to stitch on some lambswool to my 3" strap (new and slippery)?
