Does anyone string their 5 string with a high C?
.....
I recently bought a beautiful maple and mahogany active carvin neck-thru, used at guitar center for $700.
because I have a small practice amp- due to living in the city, and enjoy playing melodic lines, i want to use a high c string. I am optimistic
for those of you that string their guitars like this, what do you think?

Yup. I doubt I'll ever go back. I use the C much more than the low B. I never had any problems with the nut slots. They're technically too big if you switch, but I haven't noticed that it really affects the sound.

Yes - my 5-string is strung with a high C, and I love it! I have a
custom made nut, so that's not an issue... I often jump into the
upper frets to add a bit of spice to lines - the high C makes it
easier to hit those notes without having to sacrifice the low end
grooves. It's particularly useful for slap style, if you're into that...

Cant think of a song out there that I would require a high C for to be honest.
