Furman conditioners can be pretty cheap. There are nicer models with a bunch of bells and whistles, but I would imagine they do the same conditioning.

Also, a good buy is an outlet checker (not sure what it's called). You can get one from a home improvement store for around three bucks. It will tell you if you have a dangerous power source when you play in a new place. mine could have saved me from getting zapped if I had bought it sooner.
