Yamaha 614

Hey guys/gals.

I've was looking around for a new bass and stumbeled(spelling?) upon the Yamaha 614.

I kinda like it and it's something I might actually afford if I save a little whilel.

So I was wondering,
has anyone out there played one?
What was good about it?
What was bad about it?
Do you know a better bass in it's price range(500euro)?

Take a look at the new Yamaha TRB1004. Very nice and about the same price. I picked one up a few months ago and think its the best bass I've ever owned.

I'm a big fan of Yamaha basses; I own two. One is a BB1600, which looks much like the one you're discussing. Every bass has its limitations; if you like this bass, you can be sure that it will, if nothing else, serve you well for a long, long time.

I played one in a music store and really liked it, but really don't know enough to give a decent critique. While I'll agree that a heftier bridge (like the Badass) would seem appropriate, I have to admit that it sounded and felt just fine. I think it's best if you can play any bass you're thinking about buying.
