An inspired post...the best looking Jazz Basses (GAS content)

Bo inspired me to do this. We all know and love that Jazz Bass body and the classic colours, but here's a pick of my favourites...

1975 Jazz Bass (original I think) with block inlays, ash body, sunburst finish and a black pickguard. Genius!

1963 Jazz Bass, Fiesta Red, aged very nicely

Another tasty 60's number. Not sure what year, but it looks like a reissue (no clay dot inlays)

Mid to late 70's Jazz with the lovely block inlays in blue. Grr

One of the best looking Basses I've ever layed eyes on. A 1975 classic!

Finally, I got to throw my own Jazz Bass in there, because I love it... ;)

I'd KILL for any of those, in perticular that second to last one...

This has gotten my juices going. My new 75 reissue MIJ Fender J lefty is the same as that vintage white one (mine is also vintage white), except mine has a maple finger board and does not have all the extra metal. Has vintage USA J pick ups and sounds amazing... also 16500 dollars less than the one mentioned later in the post that sold on EBAY... a great compromise...

OOOOH! OOOOOH! (waves hand excitedly) I picked up a LowEnd 5 string (wide spacing), Red (Close to Fiesta, but a little brighter) with matching headstock, Bound Maple Fretboard w/ Black Block Inlays, 3 piece neck, active Jazz over the weekend at the Arlington Guitar Show. I'll post a photo in the next day or two.

Wow, nice Garry! Got enough knobs? I once made a polished aluminum plate for one of my j-basses to accomodate 4 pots and a jack... talk about a tight fit even when using mini pots! I take it the bass has active electronics?

Thanks! It's made by a company/bass shop in Nashville called the "LowEnd" (GREAT logo, BTW)- the neck is made by Bienventes (probably screwed up the spelling on that) and the LowEnd carries lots of Bienventes stuff. My bass was originally made for/owned by Jeff Offunt (once again, probably screwed up the spelling), a studio bassist in Nashville (that'd probably p--- him off - he plays live lots as well).

The knobs are Vol. - Vol. - Treble Boost/Cut - Bass Boost Only (plus push/pull active/passive) -Tone (for passive mode).

Now I've just gotta figure out how to play a 5 stringer.
