so i was curious. after a couple of recent threads i got to thinking what do we all do for a living. i'm a paramedic working in east london. i've been in the service 22 years and still enjoying it, although i plan to retire after 30 years service. i currently work on a rapid response unit (see below)

I was in the Canadian army for a while and after that I got a degree in chemistry. I've worked in chemical research and chemical manufacturing. Now I own my own small lab and test soil and plant tissue for the agricultural industry. I'm very satisfied with my job.

Here's a couple of old pics of my lab. This was 4 years ago when I was first setting up. There have been a few changes since.

Looks fairly good! I would like having some more laboratory work than what is in my job at the moment!

Analytic work is fun for sure. There are a number of instruments that aren't in those pics. I have a GC (partly visible), HPLC, Ion Chromatograph and an Atomic Absorption/Emission spectrometer. I've also upgraded the electro-chemical equipment.

What do you teach? I teach math to 12 year olds. I also have my administrative certification, so sometimes I get to play Principal. I still rather be a rockstar. Better hours.

Agreed, rockstar is preferable, but I really do love my job and the hours will get much better in about two weeks! I looked at your homepage...lots of music teaching. I just started with a couple of bass students and one guitar student this year.
