Would you agree this is a solid bass?

Alright, well I am looking to buy a new bass and I am pretty much set on Carvin but before I buy anything I just wanted to post the specs and see if anyone sees a problem.

I have decided to go with the LB series 5 string. (LB75)

Construction/scale: neck-through, 34" scale
Body: alder
Neck: Maple neck-through, graphite reinforced
Neck width: 1.75" wide @ nut, 2.75" wide @ 24th fret
Fingerboard: ebony - 14" radius
Inlays: standard dot
Hardware: Chrome
Bridge: Hipshot with strings fed through body
Frets: 24 medium jumbo .103" wide X .048" tall
Pickups: 2 Soap Bar Humbicking
Electronics: Active/passive electronics w/ master volume, pickup blend, active bass, mid, treble
Tuners: Carvin premium 20:1 ratio
Color: Jet black
Guitar dimensions: 45.6" long, 12.6" wide body, 1.63" thick body
Weight: 8.75 lbs

Additions: Dunlop strap locks, Asymmetrical neck.

I also have chosen to ask them to hold finishing the neck, Paint or Otherwise, due to the fact I wish to do my own stained tung oil finish after I receieve it. (I don't like the contrast of the Maple with the black body)

So how does that sound to you? Fairly good setup? The price is just over $1100 with tax/shipping.

Carvin make beautifully crafted, highly playable basses at great prices. I got mine (5 string, bolt on neck) last January and it is great! I wouldn't hesitate to but another (except for the fact my wife would probably kill me if I bought a another bass LOL).

Yes, sadly my poor deluded wife has this bizarre idea that 3 is enough. Personally, I'm inclined to think that, assuming you came across the right deals or won the lottery, one for every day of the week sounds about right.

BTW I think I've found a way around my bass limit. I've been telling my wife I'm interested in building one. This approach seems to be working as she hasn't said no. hahaha

What sealed the deal when I picked up my Japanese p-bass was the fact that it was very well priced and that I could probably sell it on eBay right now for more than I paid for it. I'll have to try the building one ploy (after I've finished the gazebo, the new fence, renovating the master bath, renovating the kithchen.....)LOL

BTW, you haven't finished the gazebo yet? Better get cracking, that list seems to be growing. At that rate you'll be too old to build a bass by the time you can. hahaha

The gazebo should be done by the end of the month if the weather co-operates. Our friends at Home Depot dropped of another load of lumber last Saturday (the garage smells like a giant cedar chest right now) but it rained the whole weekend. It's just the trim, railing & screening that needs to be finished.

Glad my wife dont set me at no 3 bass limit.....i got 6 already...lol....fortunatley as long as i keep bills paid, the house problems fixed, and the vehicles running good my wife doesnt complain about how much music equipment i buy......she actually complains i dont play enough.....which is why i am building a new bedroom so i can take one of the current ones for a music room :-)

I expect if our house was bigger it would be less of an issue but the kids seem to be occupying more space each day (they're so much more manageable when they're little)and I also have (please don't tar & feather me) 3 guitars and a Marshall half stack so I can't really complain.

my house is small but with only the wife and i it makes it cozy and since eventually i get my own music room all i need after that is a nice woddshop in the back yard.
