My guess is that the Brits gas is taxed over twice it's actual cost... in fact I think all of Europe is that way. I've spent time in Europe and you folks really get nailed with taxes compared to the US and our taxes are tooooooo high.

the taxes are very high yes, but the oil companies add that cost as well so we pay their taxes as well as our own extortionate ones.then the refineries add their taxes to the price as well...or something
