Madeira bass part 2 (pickups)

so i went and got it. its in great shape. i was takign it apart to clean it out cuz it had loads of gunk on it. and the pickups are ridiculosly crappy.

its a p-j configuration.
so i was thikning, besdies EMG's what are some really good pickups that'll make it sound nice.

i was thinking of maybe converting it to a fretless, so what pickups are good for that sound as well. thnaks.

ok those dimarzio sound really nice.

i know how to soder and know a LITTLE about wiring.

so what should i go for? the split-P and the will powers?

and they CAN be used together with a jazz bridge pick up correct?

and if i like the sound of it just like that, for maybe a punky sound or non jazz bass sound can i just fill up the j pickup hole with wood diller and have a p bass?

I think you'd be happy with DiMarzio standard P an J pups. I put them on my P-Lyte and I love them. I have also heard good things about the ultra J.

Both the standard P and J can be wired in series or parallel which gives you a whole new set of tones to play with. You just need mini switches or push pull pots.
