OK, first of all - I'm baaaack. It was under the name "Gee" (I fatfingered my name and never corrected it)before - but I changed e-mails, forgot my password, etc., and it's been a long time since I posted - so I'm forfeiting my previously acquired points and starting afresh.

Second of all - there's a sunburst 60's Classic Fender Jazz on sale for $299 at the Guitar Center on LBJ (just advertised as a MIM Jazz)in Dallas. Someone who lives nearby needs to run down and buy it before they understand it's not a Standard MIM. Go to the Bass Central website and look at the differences between the Standard and the Classic 60's. They're essentially MIA (but assembled in Mexico)'64RIs and are fantastic for the price. I spent way too much money at the Dallas guitar Show this weekend (and already have 3 jazzes anyway) else I'd go pick it up just because it's a steal.

Speaking of the Dallas Guitar Show - I had my eye on a '69 Jazz body and electronics married to a '78 neck - not pretty, but wow - it played and sounded great. I wandered around the Show a little more and then decided to get it. I went back and it was gone. Ah well. Snooze/Lose. But then, later in the day, Tommy Shannon was playing on stage with Uncle John Turner and a bunch of other great musicians - and he had the bass I wanted!!! Ah well, at least he has good taste!

Ok, enough rambling. Back to work.

Welcome back to AB 'Gee'. Is that a 60's re-issue? Sounds like a deal. Too bad I'm way up north and there's no way I'd get permission to buy another bass anyway. LOL

Yeah, ya'know, I got divorced last year and my bass collection has grown three fold.

The 60's Classic doesn't have a "Reissue" moniker but, I'm told, the neck, body and hardware and electronics (the p'ups are listed as Standard Vintage - so, they might be slightly different - but sound pretty darn good)are from the same batch as the MIA NOS '64 (?) and the masterbuilt '64s. The Classic isn't nitrocellulose either. The MIM statement is on the back (instead of the front)of the headstock (for those who care about appearances).
