Too much to ask for??

A band with good vocals?

I'm auditioning for bands lately and I've found many bands where vocals are just blah.

What's up?

Are you auditioning as a singer or bassist?

Both, ideally. I mean I'm cool with backups.

But most of the bands I've auditioned for don't really need backups.. they need good leads, er.. but they don't know it apparently.

I don't mean to be mean, I'm just sayin.

I know what you mean. I had some unpleasant discussions with my (still) current band when I happened to criticize the lead singer. Nothing has been changing for good after that. :-P

Hehe! Critisizing the lead singer, as I have found is a definite "no-no" for band harmony!

Like you, I just committed the cardinal sin of being "totally honest, and up front" about our lead singer's abilities (or lack of them). Well, I tried to be tactful - but things have now become really horrible.

Are all lead singer's Prima Donna's? Gee, I hope not. Haha - and I thought muso's were temperemental!

Hope things improve with your band soon Michael.

Yeah, I've commited that exact cardinal sin. I wouldn't call my lead singer a primadonna, though (I've met some).
The whole band is just stagnating, we are hardly rehearsing, there are not enough songs, the songs we can play don't groove well etc., etc. and actually I don't like the band's music that much ... I've been thinking about quitting for months and will probably do it this week.

Are you sure you're not in the same band as me? Hehe! Those are exactly the same problems I have with my band.

In fact I quit this week. Well, I said I was taking a 6 week break to re-assess things, but I don't think I will be going back.

Sometimes Michael, the time is just right to move on, and I think you have already made the decision that now, might be a good time! I didn't find it easy to make that decision, but I hope everything goes ok for you.

Let's talk about that WEATHER for a sec. I thought when I moved here it would be all sunshine.. it's rained the last few days, like a lot. Grrr.

Granted, today is quite sunny and lovely. In fact, most days it is sunny and lovely.

When I have to put my top up DURING THE DAY i feel ripped off!

I've been around, lurking for a while. Recently I started auditioning for bands out here, now that I'm kind of settled in.

Problem is I have limited free time and if I'm going to spend it with a band, it needs to be a GREAT band, not a good "fixer-upper"!

I know what you mean. I started working mids (10 pm to 6 am) about 3 weeks ago and now I just want to play with seasoned musicians with little maintenance & practice (I am fortunate to have come across such a group). I'm not interested in a beginner's band. Just don't have the time for it.
