How many singers out there???

How many of you sing as well as play bass? Do you sing lead or background? Do you have to compromise (simplify) your bass lines to handle singing? Do you have any tips for wannabee singer/bassists like me?

I have a fairly good voice and I enjoy singing but I have never been able to sing as well as play bass. The bass line is so often completely different from the melody. I simply can't do both together. I am always in awe of people like Geddy Lee who can sing lead vocals while playing bass. Do you feel the same?

Ok so does anyone know what that 'Frampton' thing is called???? The guitarist in Bon Jovi sometimes uses one as well. That might sound cool with bass.

Thanks for the link. I might have figured it was a simple and obvious name. Why did I expect something complicated and technical. lol

Seriously though, have you ever tried singing while playing bass? If so do you find it hard to do?

I once had to sing while playing bass, for a music lesson at school. Wasn't too hard, playing guitar and singing was a bit harder..

Really, usually I hear people say it's the other way around, that playing bass and singing is harder. Of course I don't play guitar so I don't know first hand.

Anyway Ahmed, now that you have admitted this in public is your band going to rope you in to sing backup? LOL
