Best Pre-Amp for headphone practice

Hey there

Im off to University in a few weeks, and need to the ability to practice bass silently without disturbing my flat mates too much!

I have the system sorted for guitar. Yeah, I apologise for occasionally slipping over to the dark side! I have Guitar - Line 6 POD - Laptop/Digital Mixer - Headphones - Ears. It works great, but I need a similar set up for bass now.

Although I love the Line6, Im not sure I need somthing as versatile as a POD for bass. I have a range of Boss pedals for Bass - Im sure they will see me through. All I really need is a pre-amp, somthing similar to the Tech21 Bass Driver:

Or, is there an alternate I should be aware of? Any help on the subject is greatly appriciated. Oh, and I apologise if this has been covered before. I did search FretBuzz, but couldnt find anything that delt with my problem directly.

I think the Sansamp would be great for headphone practice. I am getting the MXR M-80! I will use it for a pre-amp, DI, a touch of dirt, a recording pre, and a headphone amp.

Either one looks versatile enough to use for many applications. Good luck!

Another one that looks good. EBS Microbass II...It's "knobby" and should be loads of fun!

You should really be fine using your bass pedals thru the POD, aren't there already some clean presets for recording bass on the POD? I know I have recorded my bass thru a POD at a couple of gtr players studios and got pretty good sounds.

I've fiddled around with one. They don't seem too bad. You should check it out along with the others.
