Hi everyone. I have been building this RC model hydroplane for over 2 years and it's finally finished. Lil' Hornet is her name and she's 50 inches in length and 34 inches in beam and totally scratch built.

She's built completely from wood and is powered by a Shindaiwa T20 gas weed whacker which I converted to an outboard motor by substituting a flex shaft for the solid shaft the motor came with. The propeller is hand made from heavy gauge sheet metal silver soldered to cut down bolts threaded into a plastic hub.

I've run her a couple of times now. With the final prop she got up on the step and planed along at about 30mph. I don't think she'll go much faster because of the weight and fairly small motor but 30 is pretty good.
