Entering into the Fretless World

Would appreciate getting your opinions on the MIM Fender Standard Fretless Jazz bass. I am looking to learn / get some experience playing fretless.

I am your basic "old guy reliving his youth stay at home hacker" as opposed to someone who knows what they're doing or makes $$ at playing.

Given this...is the American version worth $700 more ???

Thanks for your responses......

I bought a used Peavey Amp at Music-Go-Round for a great price; but every pawn shop I've been in has stuff way overpriced. I was looking at a Chorus Pedal at a pawn shop. It had $99 on the side. I commented that I could buy a new one for half that price.. they immediately lowered it to $20 but would not let me plug it in to see if it worked. I think a lot of pawn shops don't know how to price musical items. I've seen used amps that you could buy new for less. I keep going in them though looking that that great deal.

I have "The Stude" basic model. Three of the Wishbasses on Ebay are new and Steve, the guy who makes them, is selling them. The other two are from current owners. I like the shape of the Stude and the way it hangs when you have it stapped on. He has both "Buy Now" for $300. I had him build mine "white" for way, way, way, less than that. It looks like he's used some different wood on these two and maybe a better pickup than mine has.

How do you like your Chorus Pedal? That's my next toy. That and maybe Octave pedal.
