Good bassists/Bad music

It's come to my attention that all of the boy bands like thebackstreetboys (they're not deserving of more than one word's worth of space or even uppercase notation) and pretty girls like Britney Spears (she's hot so she gets more glorification) have really great bassists. Would somebody please tell me why these bassists don't leave and go play some music with quality?

Why not ask Brian Newcombe? He's been on
Activebass since the first day, and records the
bass tracks for my friends Sean and Dane, who
propduce songs for R&B acts like 98 degrees.

Drop him an email from his activebass home page
and invite HIM into the discussion.

Personally, I seldom ask what style of music I'll
be playing in the studio. I go; I play the part; I
cash the cheque.

For my artistic itch...I scratch it elsewhere.

By the way...Brian's a super nice guy, and I'm

formidable bass talent, and a glimpse at his

I interpretted Joey's question as 'why would a bassist choose to be in the ROAD BAND for these acts'...a studio gig is different; you play the part(hopefully, once)go home, & await the next call.
Being in the road band means several weeks/months playing the same show night-after-night. Couple guys I know are doing the road thing w/ some New Country acts...
Why? I'd say the pay is pretty good, you're treated fairly well, exposure,...too, I believe the "worst" of these gigs is still better than the every day 9-5 job/hassle.

Joey,

As usaul an extremely excellent question. But, I have a theory on this:

Although the 'teenie boppa's' all claim to "love" artists (con-artists) such as the BSB and Britney Spears, their minds are subliminaly attracted to the addictive grooves of some of these awsome bass players.

And who said that a bass line can't make a song!?!

Cheers,
Ben

Are you for real? I hope not.

P.S. It was one of the Gallagher brothers who said that the bass could never make a song.
