Chris:
where'd this language filter come from???
Is there anyway that we can turn it on or off?
I know that you put it on there to limit exposure to profanities, but I believe that it should be a personal preference.

Personally, I believe that obscenities do have a place in the English language. I know many here may not agree with me, and they have every right to do so, however, if and when I choose to use profanity, it is to prove a point. The language is chosen to emphasize my point as I see fit. I do believe that if my posts read like a scene from "Pulp Fiction", then the reader has every right to take offense. But occassional profanity just serves to illustrate points and should not be taken as offensive, and this is why I would hope for the option to turn off the language filter at some future date (not that I really have any say though).

I would like to make one point about cursing: Its not like were posting pics of folks doing the nasty with goats. I think used in a proper context (such as making a point) cursing does have its place ( such as "That made me feel like a total a--.) Saying Donkey or butt just doesn't have the same effect, Y'knowat I mean Verne?

Ryan,

We try very hard to keep this a G-rated site. We don't always succeed, but that's the goal. There are plenty of other bass forums in which you can freely use profanity to emphasize your points, which is yet another reason why we try to keep it clean here.

This is a policy which as far I can tell, will never change.

's ok. With the recent actvities on here, I can now agree with this filter. Still, I wish there was a way that we could turn the filter off on the client side.
