Last innovative band ?

My ears are bored.

I was wondering who was the rock bands who brought some fresh ideas to the genre, and I'd like to know which band has been the most innovative recently, according to you.

Help my ears, please :)

LAST INNOVATIVE BAND. Do you really think these SEVENTIE'S bands are the last innovative bands? You are insane. There's thousands of innovative bands that makes really good sound from 1970 till now. My favorites: tool, refused, system of a down, rage against the machine, queens of the stone age... all of them VERY innovative, creative, and (I know all you fans of classic rock will trash me) much better than pink floyd, black sabbath and led zeppelin. I simply think that sound is dead. Between now and the 70's, there was alot of innovative bands like Ramones or Nirvana (you don't have to be technical to sound good It's all about FEELING and CREATIVITY).

Ramones was exelent band.
But you can't not compare bands like: Black Sabbath, Zeppelins, Pink floyd, deep purple,... with this "shit" nu metal bands like tool, system of down,...., because If you see the band members in this band, can 100% beter play instruments and making more good music. Like Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) can be guitar teacher for tool guitarist and so on. Maby are 70's gone, but the music is still alive and none can't change this.

You can liesen to this "nu metal" bands I have nothing against this, but Old stile rock, kick more ass.

sorry dude but howie daye is terrible. I saw him play at my school (university of scranton). He's pretty good with those samplers but he's terrible compared to Keller Williams. Download some Keller Williams shows or go to a show and you can see a true innovator and a music genius. Yes he is a bit weird if you meet him, but that comes along with having a better understanding of music than all of us.

That's SO subjective! Every band that might be considered "innovative" would probably rattle off a list of influences rather than say "oh yes, we're entirely original."

I think there are bands all the time that innovate rock and roll.

If you're looking for an example, check out Hot Hot Heat. I really enjoy them. Innovative? Maybe from my point of view, but maybe not yours.

Hey Jean...You should really give some information on your homepage. It'll make it easier to make suggestions.

I don't know what style of music you're into, but I'd recommend checking out some Godspeed You Black Emperor. Specifically their album 'Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennaes to the Heavens'. They're all instrumental with incredibly long songs, but done in a tasteful and simple manner. Lots of layering and tons of dynamics. Sigur Ros is another one with what I feel is an innovative sound. They're up for a grammy this year for their recording ' ( ) '. My favorite recording of theirs is 'Agaetis Byrjun'. Too hard to describe.

Hope this helps!!
