Is this common? I know of at least two local bands where the bass player plays a fretless bass. Both of them are hardcore metal bands. Is this a common thing? I didn't think it was, so I'm just wondering what's going on around here where we've got people playing metal on fretless basses. Any thoughts?
There are a few metal bassists who use a fretless. John Myung and Stece Digiorgio to name a few. its just creativity at work. anything is possible. there r even bassists using picolos in metal. who knows, maybe sumone is using an upright for metal??
the different basses used compliment the different sounds u want in the band.
